Week 32.

Here’s where we are this week:
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

How far along: 32 weeks

Total weight gain
: +27.5 total.  This is +0 from last week.  Still well within the normal ranges for my pre-pregnancy weight/height ratio based on this calculator.  I know I’ll gain more than the 30 lbs. I gained with Anna.

Sleep habits
: My middle of the night panic attacks are back in full swing, but it’s mostly worrying about stuff I still need to do before the baby gets here vs. worrying about life stuff.  Most nights I’m able to fall back asleep easily at every hour with the exception of 3 a.m.  That’s when the panic kicks in and I start thinking about needing this or that, having to finish the nursery, panicking about not having all of the little things that I had readily available by this time the last go-round.  I’m definitely falling behind.

Maternity clothes: I haven’t splurged on any new maternity clothes and hopefully won’t have to.  As the weather warms, I’ll be able to finish up my pregnancy in my summer maternity clothes that I wore with Anna.  If baby J gets here before it warms, I’m still fitting in all of my other maternity clothes, so I think I’m good.  I’d hate to have to spend any $$ on something new at this point.

Best moment of the week:  Finding a dresser for baby J’s room (more on that in a minute).

Food cravings: My appetite has diminished quite a bit.  I think it’s because there’s not much room for my stomach at this point.  I tend to be hungriest around 1:30 – 2 p.m., and then after that point (or before) I’m not hungry at all.  Most nights it takes a lot just to finish half of my meal.  This is a stark contrast from the 2nd trimester when I’d finish my meal, Joe’s meal, and who the hell am I kidding, Anna’s meal.

Symptoms: Heartburn?  Check.  Braxton Hicks?  Check.

My mood has been pretty calm.  I have to say that the hormonal flare ups with this baby have been way less than they were when I was pregnant with Anna.

Movement:  Movement is very forceful but spaced out, so I do have some rest in between the alien-like motion that I feel throughout the day.  Since I wear fitted shirts, it’s very obvious to outsiders when J is awake, so I find myself covering up when I’m in meeting just to not freak people out.  I mean, come on, it IS a little freaky to see someone’s stomach rolling back and forth, right?

J hiccups A LOT.  Like maybe 20 times/day for about 5 – 10 minute increments.  If I eat, he hiccups.  If I wake him up, he hiccups.

The nursery:  I did manage to accomplish a few things with the nursery, so I feel like I’m getting myself back on track.

I hung J’s curtains:

The chevron fabric was cut incorrectly to where instead of having the horizontal pattern, it was vertical.  However, after seeing them up like this, I like it this way even more!  Thanks to my friend Kent for sewing these babies for me!

I washed all of his bedding and set it up:

I bought a solid dresser for $70 (SCORE) at a local re-store (lovely lamp not included):

It has the coolest center compartment with drawers that slide out.

I’m still on the fence if I should paint the whole thing aqua like this:

Or just the front/drawers white like this:

I’m getting these knobs for sure:

Order the decorative pieces to finish the room (the hanging ceiling orbs)

Get the gutter to create the bookshelves and enlist the services of my handy husband to actually hang them on the wall

Make the bird mobile

Hang the wall letters

What I’m looking forward to:  Finishing up the nursery.  Meeting my little man.

What I miss
: A flat stomach.  And I’m not only saying that from a place of vanity – it’s coming from a place of comfort.  Shaving my legs, putting on socks, putting on underwear, bending over to pick up something – all of it is torture.  I also miss sleeping on my back without feeling like I’m smothering or being mounted by an elephant.

Last appointment details:  My appointment was today, Friday, February 17th.

Joseph’s h/b was 145.  I am measuring at 30 cm which is a little behind, but it’s nothing to be concerned about.

She checked me again since I’ve been having contractions daily.  Still high, closed, long (cervix).  So, no changes to my cervix at this point is a good thing.

Next appointment:
My next appointment is Friday, March 2.  It will be my last appointment with my OB before she goes on maternity leave.

------------------------------------------------------------

I haven’t posted many pictures of Anna lately because I haven’t taken many.  I’m such a slacker!

Anyway, here are a few of Anna making some paintings for J’s nursery.  She had fun making a huge mess.  I’m still trying to figure out the best way to display her artwork in his nursery.

Your nursery is going to be so cute! We went with blue and orange for our son too. I was wondering where you found the knobs? They are awesome!
