Keeping it real.

I used to be a neat freak, I will admit.  I loved to come home to a clean house and just relax.  I would waste my weekend cleaning and organizing.  Then one day, I said, to hell with it all.  I mean, I keep my house somewhat presentable, but I don’t fuss over it much anymore because I know it’s an exercise in futility.  With an active toddler, a messy husband and pets, it’s nearly impossible to keep your house clean on a daily basis.  At this point, I’m just happy when I’m not stepping on squashed grapes.

So, to make everyone feel better about their own lives, I’m posting pictures of my living room and what it looks like most days.  If you can relate, send me some pics of your own mess, and I’ll do a follow-up post about what a real mom house looks like.

Believe it or not, this is actually on a good day.

I love how it looks like the stuffed dog (?) appears to have been a casualty of war, strewn across the ottoman like that. Hilarious. I have a post scheduled for next week with pictures of my house on a normal day.

LOL - I'll have to take some pics this weekend of the disaster area my son creates! I would love to see a follow-up post on this!

I so appreciate that your living room and mine look about the same, except for that your floor still looks clean to me(goldfish are ground into my carpet daily). It's so refreshing when moms can be honest that we can't do it all, all the time!

I'm right there with ya girl - our house never looks neat and tidy, but we sure do have fun!

your house should be clean enough to be healthy but messy enough to be happy!!! I find comfort in seeing other peoples mess because mine looks the same way!

I despise cleaning! DH LOVES a clean house, and I think that's an understatement. It's SO HARD to have it clean in the morning, lunch, and evening. Just as long as it's clean one time a day, that should be enough LOL.

We refer to this as baby tornado at my house.

I may have to share w/my husband. He can't stand that as soon as toys are cleaned up, they reappear instantly - and that's with 1 toddler...what does he think will happen when the 7 month old enters toddlerhood and we have 2 making the messes!

I did a similar post, too, but my picture wasn't as clear only because my battery died as soon as I took the pic and realized the flash was not on! grrr!!!

I always love your posts, and even when you haven't posted in awhile and I've already read whatever the latest is, I'll still read it again because they're always so great. :)
